AI'S FUTURE IMPACT While there has long been an understanding that the future of IT is the future of AI, there is an increasing realizaon that the future of medicine, of home construcon, and of energy producon and delivery is also the future of AI. Companies across industries are looking to move beyond proofs-of-concept and one-off soluons to find the ways AI can impact, improve, and transform their business. As they examine AI in the context of their overall strategic goals — and examine their business models in the context of the benefits and risks of AI — execuves are seeking not merely a tool for immediate operaonal enhancement but a catalyst for a virtuous cycle of connual advancement across the taccal-strategic spectrum. The path forward is marked by a sequence of progressions that companies can enter at any stage, depending on their readiness and strategic objecves. Opmizaon will become a necessary-but-not-sufficient aspect of strategic AI implementaons. The study found that almost a third of companies cite opmizaon and efficiency as a leading movaon for their AI iniaves. 31% are currently more focused on using AI to lower costs and opmize operaons than on innovaon and growing revenue Q. On a scale of 1 to 10 — where 1 is solely interested in using AI to lower costs and optimize operations and 10 is solely focused on spurring innovation and revenue growth — where would your company's current approach toward AI fall? AI AND LOGISTICS The entry point for many companies in their AI journey is oen opmizaon and cost-cung. For example, trucking companies use AI to opmize vehicle maintenance and fuel consumpon. Consumer businesses deploy chatbots for “Level 1” support and sale engagements with customers, roung more complex issues to customer service agents. By leveraging AI to streamline processes and reduce resource consumpon, businesses can achieve quick wins and lay the foundaon for more advanced applicaons.
